Countries
The countries available in the organisation: adding them, turning them on or off, and how a person's country decides their public holidays and their allowance.
The Countries section lists the countries that people and departments can pick. Its card is titled Gestione Nazioni ("country management"): this panel has never been translated, so every label in it stays in Italian whatever language you are using. The description reads "Aggiungi, attiva o disattiva le nazioni disponibili nei selettori della piattaforma." (add, activate or deactivate the countries available in the platform selectors), followed by {n} di {n} nazioni attive, how many of the countries are active.
What the country is for
A person's country decides:
- which public holidays are not deducted from their vacation (see Public holidays, weekends and company closures);
- which per country allowance override applies (see Leave types and allowances).
The country is worked out like this: the one chosen in the person's profile (From profile); failing that, the one of their department (From department); failing that, Italy.
Adding a country
Aggiungi Nazione opens Aggiungi nuova nazione ("add a new country", with the note "Inserisci i dati della nuova nazione. Il codice deve essere il codice ISO alpha-2 (2 lettere).", enter the details of the new country, the code has to be the two letter ISO alpha-2 code):
- Codice ISO ("ISO code"), two letters (IT, FR, DE, ES, US...);
- Nome in Italiano, Nome in Inglese, Nome in Spagnolo, the country name in Italian, English and Spanish;
- Timezone,
Europe/Romeby default.
Press Aggiungi ("add"): Nazione aggiunta con successo ("country added successfully"). If the code already exists: Esiste già una nazione con questo codice ("a country with this code already exists").
Once you have added a country, import its public holidays from Settings › Official Holidays.
Turning a country on and off
The table shows Bandiera, Codice, Nome, Stato (Attiva / Non attiva) and the Disattiva or Attiva button, that is flag, code, name and status, active or not active, with a button to turn it off or on. A country that is turned off disappears from the profile, department and override selectors, and is no longer covered by the annual public holidays import; the people who already had it keep it.
You cannot edit or delete a country from the panel.
Changing a department's country
You do that from the Departments section of the panel, changing the Country of the department: the Warning: Department Country Change window lets you update only the people who inherited the country from the department (Selective Update (Recommended)) or everybody (Forced Update). See Departments and managers.
